About me: My name is Jesenia Meza. This is my second year as an EL teacher. With remote learning being a challenge for me, I felt like this was my first-year teaching because this is my first-time teaching in person. I am an EL high school teacher who teaches newcomers and students who have been in the country for less than 5 years. I teach students from México, Central America, South America, Caribbean, Africa, and Vietnam. The great thing about being with my wonderful English learners (ELLs) is that every time they go to their native country, they bring me a small gift. This makes me feel special to them, and I really appreciate their gifts. Additionally, I have a Spanish book club that meets every Thursday. We also have field trips and complete services to keep my students engaged with the community.
